Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Who is behind the Access to Healthcare programme?
A: The programme is initiated and supported by Coloplast, a worldwide provider of intimate healthcare products and services. You can read more about Coloplast's involvment here. The Access to Healthcare programme has its own board, mandate and rules of procedure.
Q: Why is Coloplast involved in such a programme?
A: Coloplast initiated Access to Healthcare as a donation programme because it feels it is in a position to help improve the lives of many people in the developing world who live with deeply personal and private medical conditions, which are often associated with trauma and taboo. Additionally, Coloplast believes that it can benefit from it in several ways. Read more about these reasons here.
Q: Who can apply for the programme?
A: Applicant organisations should meet several criteria. It is recommended that you read the inclusion and exclusion criteria. If you are involved with a relevant project or initiative that fulfils these criteria, we welcome your application.
If you are unsure as to whether your project or initiative fulfils the criteria, email the Donation Office and we will do our best to help you.
Q: Why doesn’t the programme cover my region?
A: We have chosen to focus on projects that take place mainly in medium income countries because we think we can have the most impact by building on and developing their existing health care infrastructure and helping secure better access to intimate healthcare. We have also chosen countries where we can rely on local support if needed. The countries have been selected from the list of aid receiving countries provided by the United Nations’ Development Assistance Committee.
The Donation Board will review the list of eligible countries on an ongoing basis.
Q: How long does the approval period take?
A: Board meetings are held every 4 month. In order to be considered, we will need your application at least six weeks before the Board meeting or as early as possible as we might ask for additional information. The next meeting will take place 24 June, 2009.
Q: How will applications be judged?
A: There are a number of overall inclusion criteria listed here.
If your application fulfils the criteria, it will be referred to the Donation Office for screening. Where appropriate, a steering group will help secure that the application meets with the relevant criteria and formalities. You will be contacted if we need more information.
|
Successful applications will then be nominated for prioritisation and consideration by the Donation Board, who will make a final assessment of the application on its individual merit. The applicant will then be informed of the Donation Board’s decision. This decision is final and cannot be appealed.
If you are unsure as to whether your project or initiative fulfils the criteria, email the Donation Office and we will do our best to help you. |
Q: I’m having difficulties filling out the application form. Where can I get help?
A: If you have a question relating to the application form you may consult the guidelines. If you are still in doubt email the Donation Office and we will do our best to help you.
Q: I’m not directly connected to either an applicant or to Coloplast, but I would like to help. How can I get involved?
A: Presently, the opportunity to be involved in the programme only extends to applicant organisations and to Coloplast employees.
